Pickleball Teez ReOpens!

Those of you may know my little dog just happens to be named Pickle so I couldn't resist having a little fun making a line of t-shirts to help promote this fun sport called Pickleball!  I'll be donating a portion of the profits from Pickleball Teez to M.A.R.L. (Michigan Animal Rescue League) in Pontiac, MI.  So not only will you be helping an artist and promote this great sport, but you'll also be giving a dog or cat, puppy or kitten, a chance they might not otherwise have.  Pickleball is a combination of tennis, ping pong, and badminton that all ages can play.  If I tweaked your curiosity at all, here's a link to learn more.  There's also a list of places to play all over the USA here:  http://www.usapa.org
To get your very own Original Pickledog Pickleball t-shirt design go to:  www.pickleballteez.com :) Thank you for your support!

"Field Of Poppies" 20 x 48 inch. acrylic on wood

This is one of two vertical poppy paintings I did while I was is Florida last year. They were a challenge because of their dimensions, especially the one shown here. Both paintings are only 20 inches wide, but 48 inches tall.  To see the other giant poppy and more birds on a wire paintings, please visit ARTtwo50

Archives: 1970 McCartney Album & Oil painting, 1977

My sister recently asked if I still had the painting of Paul McCartney I did back in high school, she wanted to show her daughter.  Well, I found this down in the basement in a box with the album cover.  I decided to post it here for fun and old times sake.  Some of my friends (and my parents) might remember this and my painting keeping me in my room and up 'til 2 am on school nights when I wasn't paying basketball!  ;)  Happy Birthday Emma!  She is the singer and guitarist from my Dec. 13 FaceBook post and a big fan of the Beatles.

"23 Birds on a Wire" 24 x 36 inch acrylic on wood

I love painting birds on a wire.  To me, they represent the epitome of freedom. Which one decides on which wire and why do they all follow?  …because they choose to.  I don't see any coercing going on.  ;)  If you look closely, I've added a cardinal and a couple of blue birds…it's a colorful neighborhood meeting this particular evening.  This textured painting is for sale on both Etsy and ArtTwo50.

Pickleball Teez …just in time for Christmas!

Okay, so I know I'm kind of a dork, but I really think Pickleball is a cool sport and once upon a time I said it was destined to be an Olympic sport…I still believe one day it will be! That being said, and the fact that my dog just happens to be named Pickle, I couldn't resist having a little fun making a line of t-shirts to help promote this fun sport. Also, I'm donating a portion of the profits from Pickleball Teez to local no-kill animal shelters in the metro Detroit area.  So not only will you be helping promote this great sport, but you'll also be giving a dog or cat, puppy or kitten a chance for a forever home.

Pickleball is a combination of tennis, ping pong, and badmitten that all ages can play. If I tweaked your curiosity at all, here's a link to learn more: http://www.usapa.org If not, maybe I could interest you in your very own Original Pickledog Pickleball t-shirt design at  http://pickleballteez.spreadshirt.com :) I'm also doing a little market research so any feedback on the website/t-shirts designs is very much appreciated. Thanks for your support!
p.s.  Pickleball friends and those of you that wondered whatever happened to me and pickleballteez.com? (we were up and running there for a while…), I apologize, this was also another project that went temporarily under due to an unplanned hiatus...see post below from November 10, 2013. I'll be back on the court soon!

"Chilly Cardinals" 16 x 16 in. acrylic on wood

This painting is one from my newer "birds on a wire" series that you will be seeing more of here. It's pretty much how I felt all day...chilly...here in Michigan!  It is for sale at Pickle Dog Studio on Etsy.

Hi Everyone!
I am now back from an unplanned hiatus… Where have I been, you ask...?
On May 5, 2012 my life was turned upside down.  It took just over a year to get it back upright!  I vacillated on whether or not to share my personal experience here. But at the end of the day, I think is important for people to be aware that this is happening in epidemic proportions and not just in Sarasota.  Scary.  I'm lucky, my story ends well.  Feel free to repost and share this information…I think the more people know, the better!  Now that this is behind me, I am once again back to "my" life and my artwork.  Below the link is another new post and an invitation to our 2013 Holiday Art Show...if you are local!  In the next few weeks, I will be posting my new paintings and ceramic tiles.  As always thank you for visiting my blog!  Comments are appreciated.  I can be reached at mollihogan@gmail.com
The video and all articles are posted from May 14 thru May 24, 2013 by linking to the address above or below.

"Last Meeting Before Days End" (3) 6 x 6 in. acrylic on canvas panels

I have always had a fascination with birds not just because they can fly, but also because if you watch them, they seem to have such a carefree life...whether this is true or not...they appear to have a nice balance of activity, eating, traveling, and socializing!  ;)

"Mosaic Kitchen Walls"

This post is for Robert and some other of my friends that have been telling me to put this on my blog.  It's my kitchen back splash...a mosaic of all the little things I've saved, or my kids have made for me over the years, along with some old silverware and my mom's broken china.  The ceramic peacock in the middle, my sister made.  :)  Drew helped me grout it and believe me, it was a labor of love down memory lane, and took some time!  Hope you find this inspiring Robert!  ;)

Evolution of a triptych painting...

I told my niece and her husband that I would show how their painting had come to be and I decided to share it here, too.  These four triptychs are all the same painting at a different point of progression.  Although I like the first one and last one, I  still need to learn to put the canvas aside and just start another painting...that way I might have two, or maybe even four completed paintings, instead of one!  :p

"Birds on a Wire" 8 x 8 in. acrylic on canvas

I just entered this painting at Starkweather Arts Center in Romeo for their members show opening February 3rd.  Two birds on a wire huddling close... I think this painting might make a nice Valentine's day or wedding gift for someone special.  :)

Palm Tree 18 x 36 in. acrylic on canvas

While I am working and waiting on the next clay tile series to be completed, I thought I would show one of two palm tree paintings I finished last spring just before coming back to Michigan from Sarasota, FL.

"Lake Michigan Summer" 24 x 30 in. watercolor

I thought this would be a nice time to post another painting I did for my parents quite a few years ago. The little girl on the right is getting married this Sunday and the one on the left got married last year and now, has a little girl of her own... and I should add that their little sister (not yet born when this was painted) just started college!  I love my neices!  xxxooo

"The Sound of Music" 20 ft. x 7 ft. canvas backdrop

The second backdrop I painted for the set of "The Sound of Music" opening at Avon Players Community Theater this weekend.  A wonderful story with beautiful songs and music.  The adults and kids in this show are amazing! Click link for tickets.

"Tuscany Path" 36 x 48 in. acrylic on canvas

Another painting I did some time ago.  I plan to revisit this painting and make some improvements.  There were always some things about it (the leaves and bush on the left) that I wasn't happy with, though I a very pleased with other parts of it (the arch, the stone wall and the path), but most of all, I like the sunlight and shadow effects on it.  I'll repost when I make the changes.

"Run Like the Wind" 24 x 36 in. acrylic on canvas

I have posted here today a painting I finished a while ago.  I've met quite a few horse lovers in the past few months and promised to show it.  The original is for sale and prints can also be made.  Contact me for further questions.  :)

"The Hills are Alive..." 32 ft. wide x 17 ft. high acrylic

I painted this scene on canvas with the help of my friend, Kay, for the upcoming play "The Sound of Music" at Avon Players Community Theatre. It is shown here laid out on the floor (note: chairs in foreground and stage at top). The picture was taken from above so the perspective appears a little distorted. I'll try to get a picture when it is hung...better yet- come see the play- it opens September 9th and tickets are on sale now!  Click on the link for more information.
